As part of researching the most novel of technologies, we take pride and inspiration from historical images and memories. Every once in a while we uncover gems and license these priceless videos and images to unique projects and clients who believe in our vision.

Featured project: Lubnani ad campaign for Bank Audi

In Summer of 2010, art&d studio provided exclusive archival footage from lebanon of the 1960s for a national campaign for Bank Audi. The campaign was developed by Wonderful Productions and Leo Burnett, and sought to embrace the heritage and rich past of Lebanon through encouraging the use of the Lebanese currency. The campaign was hailed as widely successful and its videos circulated extensively within the Lebanese diaspora.

A new form of urban art is popping up in cities throughout the world. Urban Projection Mapping, as it is loosely known, is the art of creating video displays that make buildings come alive in light, color and motion. Armed with powerful technology, we create vivid, visually arresting video displays that are projected on urban architecture. These videos tell stories, form abstract imagery and in some cases, sell products.

Featured Project: UFA 3D Mapping Event

www.ufa3DMappingEvent.com

In December of 2010, art&d studio collaborated with Nomadic Dream to produce the first 3D Mapping Event in Lebanon and the Middle East.

art&d studio produced Colors of an old Beirut an original piece commissioned merging exclusive footage of Beirut from the 1960s with cutting edge graphics and techniques of 3D projection mapping in a novel amalgam.

With the event, art&d studio ran a competition for the best artists, designers and animators in Lebanon. We formed a jury panel, ran workshops, and selected 15 teams and individuals out of over 50 submissions. art&d studio also organized a public vote for the winner of $4000 by UFA Assurances.

The show opened on December 22nd and was shown for 6 nights in the heart of Martyrs' Square, Beirut. Over 15,000 people attended and the show was a huge success with the press.

As we conceptualize inventive spatial experiences, we prototype and design the technology to make them a reality. We combine hardware and software and use the latest display, sensor technologies and lighting technologies that keep our work always on the cutting edge. We animate surfaces, create responsive walls and build reactive furniture.

In addition to implementing display solutions such as LED displays, LED screens projection systems, we create content to go with it. We create visuals, edited footage, and algorithmic animations for live performances as well as entertainment venues. We work with dancers, actors, photographers and designers to develop creative content that produces a continuously interesting and engaging experience

Featured Project: littleBits

littleBits is an opensource library of discrete electronic components pre-assembled in tiny circuit boards. Just as LEGOs revolutionized playing, allowing you to create complex structures with very little engineering knowledge, littleBits are simple, intuitive, space-sensitive blocks that make prototyping with sophisticated electronics a matter of snapping small magnets together.

With a growing number of available modules, littleBits aims to move electronics from late stages of the design process to its earliest ones, and from the hands of experts, to those of artists, makers and designers.

littleBits has been shown at various venues including: Ars Electronica, Eyebeam, and the Museum of Modern Art. The platform has also won an Editor's Choice award at Makerfaire San Mateo 2009. It is currently in production in collaboration with Sparkfun.
